An historically diverse town that's one of the fastest growing communities in DuPage County, the village of West Chicago is conveniently located at the intersections of Illinois Routes 38, 59 and 64. Its current population is 25,690. It offers award-winning schools, a growing industrial park, and plentiful shopping and restaurants. West Chicago students are served by four school districts, encompassing eight elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools.

The West Chicago Public Library is located in a 27,000-square-foot facility on West Washington Street. As a member of the DuPage Library System and ILLININET, the library is a part of an informational network that provides access to additional materials through interlibrary loans, reference backup, and reciprocal borrowing.

West Chicago has preserved its Old Heidelberg and East Washington neighborhoods, plus its historic downtown Turner Junction Historic District. Two museums, including the West Chicago City Museum, take great care in preserving a rich treasure of historic records and artifacts.

Housing in West Chicago is a mix of established neighborhoods and new upscale housing. Housing styles range from apartments and townhomes to historic Victorians and high-quality new homes. The single-family housing stock ranges in price from $175,000 to $400,000.

The DuPage County Airport is located at 2700 International Drive in West Chicago. As the third busiest airport in Illinois, it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Metra service serves the community on a regular basis.

In their leisure time, villagers can take advantage of the Illinois Prairie Path, a 61-mile hiking and biking trail that cuts through Central DuPage County. The 305-acre West Chicago Prairie Forest Preserve contains 500 native plan species and numerous wildlife species in a variety of prairies, wetlands and savannas, as well as numerous walking and hiking trails. West Chicago residents can also take part in a number of village-wide events including the 7th Annual Blooming Fest, National Night Out and the popular Heritage Days, which features great food, entertainment and a parade.
