Students in Newark attend Newark Elementary School (K-4), which has 143 students, Lisbon Grade School (K-8), with an enrollment of 120 students, and Newark Community High School (9-12), which has 182 students.

The organization, Protect Kendall Now, was created in response to Kendall County's rapid population growth, and in order to protect the remaining natural areas of the county. Southern Kendall County still remains largely an agricultural region. The only designated state park in the county is Silver Springs State Park.
