Long Grove Real Estate

The village of Long Grove is most known for its quaint shops, antique stores, hand-dipped chocolates, and fall Apple Festival and Christmas celebrations, which attract thousands of visitors from throughout the Chicagoland area. Downtown Long Grove is comprised of approximately 120 specialty shops and restaurants, most of which are open seven days a week, all year-round. Villagers can also visit stores in nearby Barrington and Lake Zurich to do their shopping.

Long Grove is located 34 miles northwest of downtown Chicago in the heart of Lake County. The town has retained its small-town flavor, and it is the village's official policy to preserve that character forever. Long Grove covers 18 square miles, and according to 2000 U.S. Census statistics, has a population of 6,735.

Long Grove real estate is surrounded by large, open spaces and beautiful, lush greenery. Housing includes ranches, traditional, two-story and contemporary-style residences, and most homes are situated on two to three-acre lots. Smaller single-family homes run from $400,000 to $800,000, while luxury residences range in price from $800,000 to $4 million dollars or more.

High school students attend Stevenson High School, which received four Blue Ribbon Awards for Excellence in Education from the U.S. Department of Education in 1987, 1991, 1998, and 2002.In addition, Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report have ranked Stevenson High School among the top 100 high schools in America.

The village has a variety of recreational programs from which to choose. Younger residents can participate in a number of classes including Kindermusik classes for newborns and toddlers and art and music classes. Adult classes include tennis, fencing, and martial arts programs, as well as yoga, pilates, cardio kickboxing, jazzercise, and dance lessons.

Villagers can also attend a number of events and classes at the Reed Turner Woodland Nature Preserve. They can enjoy the Sedge Meadow and Lakeside Stroll, A Walk with Old Friends: Tree Identification with Barbara Turner, and the Spring Wildflower Walk.
