Lincolnshire Neighborhood Real Estate

A small community of 6,108 (2000), the Lake County village of Lincolnshire sits approximately 26 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. It covers 4.4 square miles, and its borders include Vernon Hills on the north and northwest, Riverwoods and Buffalo Grove on the south and southwest, and Bannockburn and Lake Forest on the east. Lincolnshire is also bordered on the east by the Tri-State Tollway, and is a 30-minute drive from O'Hare International Airport. It boasts nationally-recognized schools, beautiful parks and nature preserves, a strong economic base, and a wide variety of housing choices.

Most elementary students attend Lincolnshire-Prairie View District #103 with 1,747 students; a small portion of students attend Aptakisic-Tripp District #102 with 2,641 students. High school students attend Adlai E. Stevenson High School District #125, with an enrollment of 4,000. It is recognized as one of the highest academically-ranked schools in the nation: both Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report ranked the high school among the top 100 high schools in the United States.

Lincolnshire has a number of parks and nature preserves that provide a wealth of leisure- time opportunities. Parks include Balzer Park, which includes four tennis courts and a playground; Bicentennial Park, which has a playground and picnic area; and eight-acre Spring Lake Park, which is comprised of a one-acre lake, baseball diamond, tennis court, and other amenities. Nature preserves include Florsheim Nature Preserve, which contains roughly 800 trees and is located in the northeast corner of the village; and North Park Nature Preserve featuring a large number of recreational activities.

Villagers can also relax at Marriott's Lincolnshire Resort, located in the heart of town. Set amongst 190 wooded acres, it features a variety of amenities including fine dining, an assorting of sports activities, musical theatre, and other attractions.

Lincolnshire offers a variety of housing options, including single-family residences, townhouses and condominiums. Most single-family homes sit on one-acre lots or larger. Single-family housing areas are protected from commercial and office areas, and are situated among parks, forest preserve lands and designated open spaces. The median house value of a single-family home in Lincolnshire is $442,400 (2000).
