Kildeer Real Estate

A small community of about 3,600, the village of Kildeer is located in the southwest corner of Lake County, 29 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Its neighbors include Lake Zurich, Deer Park, Long Grove, Hawthorn Woods, and Barrington. Kildeer covers 3.5 miles and was incorporated in 1958. It contains 2,625 acres with more than 25 subdivisions that offer custom-built homes set in a rural setting with wooded areas, wetlands, natural habitats, and picturesque ponds and lakes. Many homes sit on at least one acre, set back at least 75 feet from the road.

Currently under construction are a number of single-family home developments. These include Meadowood Estates, a 50-acre, 41-lot residential development on the northwest corner of East Cuba and South Krueger Roads. Another development under construction is being built by Reese Custom Homes; this subdivision of custom-built homes is located at the southwest corner of South Krueger Road and Eleanor Lane.

The Kildeer Nature Center is situated on the east side of Quentin Road, just south of West Cuba Road. Originally the site of an oak savanna bordered by wet prairies in the early 19th century, the land has provided a sanctuary for a variety of natural flora and fauna for many years. Acquired by the village of Kildeer in 1996, the Kildeer Nature Center features a variety of non-game birds including red-winged blackbirds, bluejays, red-headed woodpeckers, purple finches, swallows, and other species. Deer, rabbit, squirrels and other critters also frolic in the natural habitat.

Kildeer contains two highly-accredited public school districts and several parochial schools. The average standardized test results for students attending elementary and middle schools in the area are in the 90th percentile.

The town contains a small shopping district located along Rand Road. Many residents do their shopping in nearby communities. For recreation, they can swim, boat and picnic in the many lakes and woods. Kemper Lakes Golf Club, one of the nation's best-known courses, is located nearby.
