Keeneyville Real Estate

Keeneyville is a northwest suburb of Chicago about 30 miles from downtown. It sits approximately 9.4 miles from Geneva and it is bordered by the larger suburbs of Roselle and Bloomingdale. Most of Keeneyville's growth occurred as a result of spill over from Roselle. The village was chartered by the state in the late 1920's. Very little has been documented regarding local government, history, and architecture. Most of the area's early history is attributed to founders and early residents of Roselle, Bloomingdale, Hanover Park and larger nearby communities.

Keeneyville is near two busy shopping malls: Woodfield Mall in Shaumburk and Stratford Square in Bloomingdale. The two malls provide access to over 400 stores. Keeneyville's location makes it accessible to all other malls in the northwest and southwest suburbs. There are over ten movie theaters: Bloomingdale Theatre 510, AMC Yorktown and AMC Loews Streets of Woodfield 20 are few within a short commute. Business in Keeneyville includes forestry, fishing, hunting, construction, manufacturing, wholesale or retail. Banks, law firms, physicians, dentists, restaurants, and car dealerships combine to represent local economy. Nearby park districts offer play grounds, tennis, swimming pools, volleyball courts, baseball, outdoor paths for biking or walking, picnic areas, soccer fields and more. Many of the surrounding park districts are accessible. Most provide instruction, fitness centers, gymnasiums, tracks and options for the whole family. Keeneyville has its own ice rink and there are facilities for golf in Hinsdale, Medinah, Oakbrook and other nearby suburbs.

Single family homes in Keeneyville can run the range from larger properties in older areas to similar offerings in new developments. Neighborhoods are a mix between the old and new in Keeneyville. Brick, ranch, contemporary, Georgians, farm homes, tri-levels, two stories, large stone or brick fronts with larger properties as options. Housing prices can go as high as a couple of million for the rare luxury properties. Condominiums and town homes have become more popular with newer developments. Prices in the area can range from the mid $80,000s for town homes to mid $200,000s for condominiums. Quiet neighborhoods offer large historic homes alongside of newer subdivisions. Kenneyville is known for a safe, clean, quiet environment with lots of room to expand and improve.

Kenneyville Elementary School District #20 has existed since 1897. It consists of three schools that cater to elementary school age children: Gleenbrook Elementary, Waterbury Elementary and Spring Wood Middle School. The school district has spent $2.2 million in the past five years to update technology. High school age children attend Lake Park or Glenbard High School or one of the two parochial high schools: Driscoll or St. Francis.
