Hoffman Estates Real Estate

Hoffman Estates is a quiet suburb of mostly uniform lots 25 miles northwest of Chicago and 12 miles from O'Hare Airport. It has a land area of 22.1 sq. miles with a population of over 52,000. It occupies both Cook and Kane counties and has a reputation for trees and golf. .

Hoffman Estates was part of the rural farming community of Schaumburg Township until the 1950s. 1954 brought a major change in Township history when a farmer sold his 160-acre farm to Sam and Jack Hoffman, father and son owners of a construction company. The land known then as Parcel A was east of Roselle Road between Golf and Higgins Roads. The first homeowners moved in late 1955. At the time homes were built on half-acre lots. In 1959, Hoffman Estates was incorporated with a population of 8,000.

The village is constantly striving to improve relationships with residents and its business community by improving events, projects, special events and overall relationships between surrounding communities and businesses that serve them. The Northwest Tollway(I-90) and routes 58, 59, 62, and 72 connect it with surrounding suburbs, Chicago, as well as the Metra train.

More than 16,000 people are employed by more than 700 businesses that operate in Hoffman Estates. Most of the pool of the areas 2.8 million workers live within an hour commute from Hoffman Estates. The Chamber of Commerce is devoted to building and networking its business community with social events and activities. Commonwealth Edison, Sears Holding Corporation, AT&T, Seimens, Transamerica and Automatic Data Processing are just a few of the large businesses that employ residents and fund community projects.

Hoffman Estates is home to more than fifty local parks, three golf courses and community centers along with thousands of acres of forest preserves and a Seascape Aquatic Center. The Park District includes numerous baseball fields, basketball courts, outdoor tennis courts, along with soccer and football fields. The village is home to seven hotels with dozens of restaurants featuring all types of cuisine. For the shopping enthusiast, Chicagoland's largest shopping mall, Woodfield, along with the numerous shops of Long Grove Village, and the Prime Outlets of Huntley are close by.

Popular styles of single family homes in Hoffman Estates run the range from ranch to colonial. Many homes are part of club communities that offer swimming pools and tennis courts. A range of townhomes are also available. Education has always been important to its residents. Students are served by six school districts, offering fourteen elementary schools, two high schools and several private schools. Four libraries make up the library system.
