Glendale Heights Real Estate

Located in DuPage County 23 miles west of downtown Chicago, the village of Glendale Heights was originally a small farming town up until the 1950s. It had a population of only 104 in 1959; during that same year it was incorporated. Today, Glendale Heights has a population of 31,765 (2000), and it is estimated that by the year 2010, its population will be 34,500.

A suburb whose motto is "A Proud and Progressive Village for All People," Glendale Heights is a modern, residential community that has plentiful recreational activities, easy access to six interstate highways, and affordable single-family housing. Nearby communities include Carol Stream (to the west), Addison (to the east), Bloomingdale (to the north), and Glen Ellyn (to the south). It coves an area of 5.4 square miles.

In addition to the six interstate highways that are located close to Glendale Heights, four primary roadways pass through town: Army Trail Road and North Avenue going east-west, and Glen Ellyn and Bloomingdale Roads running north-south. The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Chicago & Northwestern train service is minutes away in nearby Wheaton, Glen Ellyn and Roselle. Frequent RTA buses carry commuters to these stations during rush hours.

For shopping, villagers can visit Glendale Height's downtown area or head out to area malls including Stratford Mall in Bloomingdale, Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg and Yorktown Mall in Lombard.

There are a variety of recreational activities in which Glendale residents can participate. One popular facility is The Sports Hub, which contains four gymnasiums for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and other activities, a fitness center, and a teen room equipped with table tennis and other leisure-time pursuits. Villagers can also have some fun at the Glendale Heights Aquatic Center, and play some golf at the 18-hole Glendale Lakes Golf Club.
