Cary Real Estate

A village of more than 17,000 located 50 miles northwest of Chicago in McHenry County, Cary encompasses 5.3 square miles. It is bordered by the Fox River on the south. Many people are attracted to Cary because of its small town atmosphere and quiet suburban lifestyle. Residents also enjoy the rare, native prairies that have survived for many years and still thrive in the area.

Route 14 runs through Cary from southeast to northwest, and enables residents to easily access surrounding communities. Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport are located within an hour's commute from Cary.

In terns of education, Cary contains four public elementary schools, two private elementary schools, one middle school and one junior high. High school students attend Cary-Grove High School, "Home of the Trojans" on Three Oaks Road. The school name was chosen because students from both Cary and nearby Fox River Grove attend the school.

Recreational activities abound in and around Cary, and include golfing, fishing, hiking and cycling. The Cary Park District provides a variety of outdoor and indoor recreational facilities including swimming pools, exercise equipment and racquetball courts. There are also 30 parks in the area and a number of sports leagues for people of all ages; residents can also water-ski and fish on the beautiful Fox River, and hike and bike along its paths.

The housing market in Cary is very reasonably priced. It is made up primarily of single-family homes, though some townhomes and condominiums can also be found within the village. According to 2006 figures, most condos and townhomes are priced from the high $100,000s to the high $200,000s. Single-family homes run from the high $100,000s up to $550,000 or more. Some homes offer large, wooded lots or beautiful water views, and may include spas, swimming pools and hot tubs.
