Bensenville Real Estate

Originally a dairy community in the 19th century, Bensenville today has a population of 20,703 and occupies six square miles. The village is located primarily in DuPage County, but a small portion near O'Hare International Airport is situated in Cook County. The town's large industrial base results in lower property taxes for residents.

To meet the educational needs of its children, Bensenville Elementary School District 2 oversees the village's five public elementary schools. With a focus on reading, the district directs a basic education program; programs in language arts, social studies, mathematics and science are also stressed. Administrators have designed the core curriculum with the State of Illinois' Goals for Learning in mind. As a result, significantly higher scores on the Illinois Goals Assessment Program have been reported in recent years.

Older students have the opportunity to attend Fenton High School, which has an enrollment of 1,400. Fenton offers a progressive bilingual education program, video production and journalism courses, and a wide variety of core and specialty curriculum. More than 20 clubs and teams provide students with an opportunity to choose from a variety of extracurricular activities. Two of the areas finest parochial schools in the Chicago area are St. Charles Borromeo School and Concord Lutheran School.

Bensenville is the home of numerous community organizations and leisure time facilities. For example, the Korthauer Log House Restoration Project has brought together area residents who have volunteered their time to work on this project. The Bensenville Park District offers many amenities for persons of all ages including the operation of 18 parks and the Deer Grove Leisure Center, which features a gym and running track, three racquetball courts, a weight room, dance, exercise and gymnastics studios, and other attractions. It also owns and operates the 240-acre, 36-hole Golf Dome, an indoor driving range, and the Golf Waters Miniature Golf Course. The Bensenville Water Park is a major summer attraction. It features a wading pool with spraying fountains and a waterfall, marked lanes for lap swimming, and other attractions.

Bensenville's housing stock reflects a variety of architectural styles, sizes and prices. June, 2006 listings showed a four-bedroom, three-bath home selling for $999,500, while a one-bedroom, one-bath condo was listed for $132,900.
